How to use leftover and unused Sunday liquid lawn fertilizer
Each spring, customers ask "Can I use leftover Sunday fertilizer pouches?"
The answer is yes. Unused liquid fertilizer stays effective for up to two years from the date it shipped. If a pouch froze over winter, let it thaw completely and shake it well before using. It's still good.
How to work leftover pouches into this season:
- Apply your current plan pouches first. Those are matched to what your lawn needs right now.
- Wait 7 to 10 days. This applies between any two liquid fertilizer applications.
- Apply a leftover pouch. Use it as a bonus application between scheduled feedings.
- Repeat throughout the season, always holding that 7 to 10 day gap, as long as grass is actively growing and not stressed.
The best time to add extra feedings depends on your grass type. Cool-season grasses benefit most in spring and fall. Warm-season grasses do best from late spring through mid-summer.
