    St. Augustine crisis

Due to the stress of a very hot summer and an early hard freeze, my St. Augustine grass was very thin with large patches of dead grass. I was late in starting the program (May), but used the Kickstart and later the Microboost, as well as the Dandelion Doom for weeds, and it is recovering nicely. I think by mid summer it will be back to the nice thick lawn I had before it died.

      Aubrey, Texas FAQs

In Aubrey, TX, professional lawn care services typically cost $45-75 per visit for a standard quarter-acre lot. Sunday's custom lawn plans start at $55 per season and include fertilizer, soil testing, and expert support. Additional options for weed control, grass seed, and pest control are available based on your lawn's needs.

For Aubrey lawns, maintain grass height at 2.5-3 inches and mow regularly, removing no more than 1/3 of blade length. Water deeply 1-2 times per week in early morning, applying about 1 inch total. Apply fertilizer in spring, summer and fall based on soil test results. Control weeds through spot treatment rather than blanket applications.

In Aubrey, mow your lawn every 5-7 days during the peak growing season (March-October) and every 10-14 days during slower growth periods. Adjust frequency based on growth rate - mow when grass reaches about 1/3 taller than desired height.

DIY lawn care in Aubrey gives you control over timing, products, and methods while saving money. You can address issues immediately, adjust care based on weather and seasonal changes, and develop a deeper understanding of your lawn's specific needs through hands-on maintenance.

When choosing lawn care in Aubrey, consider these key factors:

      1. Evaluate your lawn's specific needs (size, grass type, problem areas)
      2. Compare service options and pricing
      3. Check provider credentials and reviews
      4. Verify they offer services aligned with your goals
      5. Ensure they use products and practices that protect people, pets and the environment

A personalized approach with regular maintenance and expert guidance often delivers better results than one-size-fits-all treatments.

The 1/3 rule means never cut off more than one-third of the grass blade length in a single mowing. This maintains grass health by preventing shock and stress. Cutting too much at once can weaken the grass and make it more vulnerable to disease and drought.

Here are sustainable lawn care practices for Aubrey, TX:

      1. Water efficiently: Water deeply but infrequently in early morning to reduce evaporation and encourage deep root growth.
      2. Mow high: Keep grass at 2.5-3 inches to shade soil, retain moisture and reduce weed growth.
      3. Leave grass clippings: They provide natural nutrients and reduce fertilizer needs.
      4. Use targeted treatments: Spot treat weeds rather than blanket applications.
      5. Test soil: Base fertilizer applications on actual soil needs to avoid over-application.

For lawn care in Aubrey, TX, focus on warm-season grasses like Bermuda or St. Augustine. The growing season runs March through October. Key considerations include:

      • Regular soil testing to determine nutrient needs
      • Proper watering schedule based on rainfall and temperature
      • Consistent mowing at appropriate height
      • Seasonal fertilization aligned with grass growth cycles
      • Targeted weed control during peak growing periods
