Lawn care in Frisco, Texas starts with understanding your soil. Most Frisco lawns have clay-heavy soil that tends to be alkaline, with a pH of 7.9. This affects how nutrients move through the soil and how your grass grows. While clay soil holds nutrients well, it can become compacted and make it harder for grass roots to grow deep.
The average Frisco lawn is about 2,600 square feet and grows warm-season grasses that thrive in the Texas heat. Your lawn care plan should focus on:
- Regular soil testing to check nutrient levels
- Fertilizing to maintain balanced nutrients
- Proper lawn mowing height for your grass type
- Smart watering practices that work with clay soil
Your lawn care routine should adjust to your specific grass type. Most Frisco lawns grow bermudagrass, zoysiagrass, or St. Augustinegrass. These grasses need different mowing heights and care schedules throughout the growing season. Check out our lawn care guides for specific tips on caring for your grass type.

Lawn is looking great after
Lawn is looking great after only about 7 weeks of treatment. Lawn was almost completely bare prior to the first treatment. First treatment was May 14. Attached are before and current photos.

St. Augustine crisis
Due to the stress of a very hot summer and an early hard freeze, my St. Augustine grass was very thin with large patches of dead grass. I was late in starting the program (May), but used the Kickstart and later the Microboost, as well as the Dandelion Doom for weeds, and it is recovering nicely. I think by mid summer it will be back to the nice thick lawn I had before it died.
