Key steps for Grand Rapids lawn success:

    Sunday works!!!

We just bought our first home and the yard we got was chaos due to the previous owners interests. Sunday was the best solution for us. It was cost effective and we have seen MAJOR results. We watered the lawn with the Grass Powerhouse and left for a full week. Came home and saw sooo much new growth! I'm so so happy.

      Grand Rapids, Michigan FAQs

The average cost of professional lawn care services in Grand Rapids ranges from $45-85 per visit, or $800-1,500 per season. Sunday's custom lawn care plans start at $55 per season, with multiple nutrient shipments, soil testing, and expert support included - making it a more affordable option for Grand Rapids homeowners.

When choosing lawn care in Grand Rapids, consider these key factors: your lawn size, specific needs (like weed control or seeding), and budget. Look for services that account for Michigan's climate and soil conditions. Focus on companies that offer customized plans, soil testing, and ongoing support rather than one-size-fits-all approaches.

The 1/3 rule means never cut more than one-third of the grass blade length in a single mowing. Cutting too much at once stresses the grass and can weaken its health. For example, if your grass is 3 inches tall, don't cut more than 1 inch off.

In Grand Rapids, professional lawn mowing typically costs between $0.01-0.03 per square foot. For a 5,000 square foot lawn, this translates to roughly $50-150 per mow. Prices vary based on terrain, obstacles, and mowing frequency.

Professional lawn care can be worth it in Grand Rapids to maintain a healthy lawn through Michigan's challenging seasons. However, DIY options like Sunday provide similar results at lower costs. Sunday's customized plans account for local soil and climate while providing expert guidance - giving you professional-level care without the premium price.

Here are the most cost-effective ways to maintain a lawn in Grand Rapids:

      1. Mow at the proper height (3-3.5 inches) to promote deeper roots and natural weed suppression
      2. Leave grass clippings on lawn as natural fertilizer
      3. Water deeply but infrequently (1-1.5 inches per week) in early morning
      4. Get a soil test to understand nutrient needs
      5. Apply fertilizer based on soil test results
      6. Overseed thin areas in fall to maintain thick turf

A Sunday custom lawn plan starting at $55 provides soil testing, custom fertilizer and expert guidance while being more affordable than traditional services.

Here are budget-friendly ways to improve your Grand Rapids lawn:

      1. Test soil pH and nutrients to target specific issues
      2. Mow high at 3-3.5 inches to promote root growth
      3. Follow proper watering schedule - early morning, 1-1.5 inches weekly
      4. Apply fertilizer based on soil needs and seasonal timing
      5. Spot treat weeds rather than whole lawn treatment
      6. Overseed bare patches in fall with climate-appropriate grass seed

A customized Sunday lawn plan provides soil testing, targeted nutrients, and expert guidance while being more affordable than traditional services.

Yes, there is a difference. Lawn care focuses specifically on maintaining grass through mowing, fertilizing, and weed control. Landscaping involves designing and maintaining the entire outdoor space, including plants, trees, hardscaping, and structural elements. Sunday specializes in lawn care with customized nutrient plans and support.

When to start growing grass in Grand Rapids Spring from May 9 to June 5 or fall from August 22 to September 22

Growing grass in Grand Rapids, Michigan starts with choosing the right type of grass and timing. As a cool-season grass region, Grand Rapids lawns do best with Kentucky bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, and tall fescue. These grasses thrive when seeded during two key windows: spring from May 9 to June 5, or fall from August 22 to September 22.

For the best results with lawn care in Grand Rapids:

      1. Pick grass seed that matches your yard conditions - sun, shade, or mixed
      2. Start with a soil test to understand what nutrients your lawn needs
      3. Prepare the soil by removing debris and loosening the top layer
      4. Select quality grass seed suited for Michigan's climate
      5. Water new grass seed daily until established

Fall is often the ideal time for Grand Rapids lawn care projects since the soil is still warm while air temperatures cool down. This combination helps grass seeds germinate and establish strong roots before winter. The cooler weather also means less competition from weeds, giving your new grass the best chance to grow thick and healthy.
