For pre-emergent control of broadleaf weeds and crabgrass:

  • Apply before fertilizing your lawn
  • Use anytime after daily average temps hold above 50–55°F for 3-5 days
  • Reapply 3–6 weeks later up to 2 times in a single lawn area

For post-emergent control of broadleaf weeds:

  • Apply after fertilizing your lawn
  • Use spring through fall when daily average temps hold above 50–55°F
  • Repeat treatment every 3–4 weeks up to 4 times yearly for optimal results

How to apply Weed & Green

Weed & Green can be applied to lawns as a pre- or post-emergent weed control. One bottle covers 1,250 sq. ft. of lawn. Applying to small or medium-sized lawn areas or sections of more extensive lawns is easier and more effective.

IMPORTANT: Iron concentrate will stain concrete, fencing, clothing, and other surfaces. If accidentally sprayed, rinse immediately.

1

Prep the bottle

Shake the bottle thoroughly to mix the iron concentrate. Remove the cap and securely attach the hose-end sprayer.

2

Attach your hose

Connect your hose to the hose-end sprayer. With the application valve 'closed', turn on the water and check for leaks.

If you accidentally sprayed ornamental plants or flowers, rinse them with water now. While Weed & Green won't harm these plants, it may cause staining.

4

Let lawn dry

Allow the lawn to dry completely before walking or letting pets and children play. Depending on humidity, it usually dries within 1–2 hours.

Weed & Green FAQs

How does Weed & Green work?

Weed & Green uses a high concentration of iron (FeHEDTA) to selectively control weeds without harming your lawn. The iron overload causes oxidative stress in weeds, moss, algae, and lichen, leading to their death. Meanwhile, the grass absorbs the iron as a nutrient, resulting in a greener lawn.

Can I use Weed & Green on my lawn?

Weed & Green can be used on any residential lawn. The main concern is lawn size. One bottle covers 1,250 sq. ft. of lawn, and it may be best for small and medium-sized lawns.

Does Weed & Green cause staining?

Yes - rinse immediately with water if you get Weed & Green on any non-lawn surfaces. But what about dormant lawns?

Weed and Green can be applied before weeds begin to emerge. This might mean you’re applying to a dormant lawn - or grass that’s not yet green and growing.

The iron formula of Weed & Green may cause temporary discoloration of grass. But don't worry! Any grayish color is temporary, and grass will return to its natural green as it grows.

How do I prevent weeds in my lawn?

Preventing weeds involves maintaining a healthy, dense lawn through regular mowing, proper watering, and fertilization.

Applying pre-emergents like Weed & Green in early spring can prevent weed seeds from germinating. Additionally, addressing soil health and overseeding or planting grass in thin areas can reduce the opportunity for weeds.

How does Weed & Green work with other lawn care products?

Weed & Green is made to work with other Sunday lawn products. For best results, apply Weed & Green before other lawn products, including lawn fertilizers. This allows the weed control to be absorbed first and work effectively.

For seeding, apply Weed & Green at least 24 hours before seeding, or if you have already seeded or planted grass, wait at least one week after planting to apply.

Always follow your custom lawn plan application dates for optimal timing.

What if I apply out of order?

If you apply other lawn products before Weed & Green, allow those products to dry or absorb into the lawn for up to 24 hours. Once the lawn is dry, you can apply Weed & Green as directed. This helps ensure that each product works effectively without interference.

How and where do I store products?

Store the product upright with the cap closed tightly in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid storing in excessive heat or freezing temperatures. Before each use, shake the bottle well to ensure optimal performance. Be aware of potential staining—store securely to prevent leaks or spills.
