Helpful Tips from Lawn Advisors:
What is a urine-resistant seed?
More than 160 varieties of grass seed were tested for highest levels of resiliency to pet urine. Ultimately this combo of tetraploid ryegrass and tall fescue grasses resists the most damage from dog urine.
When to plant fescue grass seed?
The optimal time to seed this mix is during spring and fall when temperatures consistently range between 55 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
How long does fescue seed take to grow?
Expect germination in 14 days or less.
Should I use Bare Repair before or after Sunday fertilizer?
You can apply either one first–the order is up to you, and it won’t damage the seed! Since some grass types come up quickly, having some nutrients there can enhance growth.
How to plant bare repair
- Prep your soil. Remove debris and break up exposed soil in bare areas. This ensures seed-to-soil contact, which is essential for the seed to grow.
- Spread Bare Repair at the recommended rate. Spread over patches at a rate of 1 cup per 1 sq. ft. For thinning lawns, apply 1 pound per 15 sq. ft.
- Water seeded areas 1–2x daily. Water in the early morning and evening until grass is about 2” tall. Limit traffic on the newly patched spot until new grass is established.
