How to use leftover and unused Sunday liquid lawn fertilizer
Delays happen, and that's okay! If you have leftover liquid lawn fertilizer from a previous shipment or season, this quick guide will show you how to use it safely and effectively.
Before you apply:
- Shelf life: Unused products are effective for up to two years from their shipping date.
- Storage: For best results, store pouches in a location that remains above freezing.
- Frozen product: If a pouch freezes, let it thaw completely at room temperature. Shake the pouch or bottle vigorously before use to ensure the contents are thoroughly mixed. The product is still effective.
- Application spacing: To prevent over-fertilizing, wait a minimum of 7–10 days between any two liquid fertilizer applications.
How to use leftover and unused Sunday liquid lawn fertilizer
Follow this procedure to integrate leftover pouches into your current lawn plan:
1. Apply your current plan first
Prioritize the fertilizer from your active, current lawn plan. These formulations are designed for the specific time of year.
2. Next, identify the optimal time to use leftover fertilizer
The best time to apply leftover fertilizer depends on your lawn's grass type for maximum effectiveness:
- Cool-Season Lawns (e.g., Fescue, Bluegrass, Ryegrass): Apply unused product during spring or fall.
- Warm-Season Lawns (e.g., Bermuda, Zoysia, St. Augustine): Apply unused product during late spring or mid-summer.
3. Add leftover fertilizer to your schedule
After applying a pouch from your current plan, wait 7–10 days. You may then apply one of your leftover pouches. Continue alternating between your scheduled and leftover products throughout the season, always maintaining the 7–10 day waiting period.
Follow our best practices guide to get the most out of each application.
