Sunday lawn care guide tips for new sod and seed

For new sod, wait at least a few weeks after installation before applying Sunday nutrients. For new seed, apply immediately after seeding or ideally, wait until about 60% of the seed is actively growing, roughly three weeks after planting.

New sod
Wait until the sod is fully rooted and can no longer be lifted off the ground before applying Sunday nutrients. Sod comes well-fertilized from the manufacturer, and applying too soon can do more harm than good.

New seed
Wait until about 60% of the seed is actively growing before applying Sunday fertilizer, typically three weeks after planting new seed. Keep foot traffic low while the seed is germinating and keep the soil consistently moist. Sunday lawn fertilizers won't harm new seed if applied directly after planting, but waiting until seed has germinated gives the seedlings the best start.
