Lawn care for Aledo, Texas
| Average lawn size | 3,200 sq ft |
| Dominant grass type | Warm-season grasses like bermudagrass, zoysia, and St. Augustine |
| Typical soil pH | 8.0 (alkaline) |
| Organic matter | 2.42% |
| Soil composition | 32% sand, 33% silt, 35% clay (clay loam) |
| Key nutrients | Potassium 184 ppm, phosphorus 21 ppm, calcium 7,080 ppm |
Aledo lawns grow in clay loam soil that holds water well but runs alkaline. That high pH can lock up nutrients before roots grab them. The good news? Warm-season grasses like bermuda and zoysia actually thrive here once you work with the soil, not against it.
Why Aledo lawn care starts below the surface
Your soil's alkaline lean means iron and other micronutrients need a little help getting to your grass. Skip the generic fertilizer and look for formulas designed for high-pH conditions. One common mistake: overwatering clay loam until it compacts into concrete. Water deeply but less often. For more tips on reading your yard's signals, check out our lawn guides.

South Texas Fan
Living in San Antonio where we are under drought restrictions, managing a lawn is challenging. My Sunday plan supplemented with Drought Defense and Water Focus has produced amazing results on my turf. Add to that the ease and effectiveness of Weed Warrior on my rock beds, this company has a BIG fan.

Great so far
I started this Sunday program last year, and I have been satisfied with the results so far. Our grass stays healthy and green, even in the heat of the Texas summer.

Texas Lawn
It is super convenient to have your lawn treatment mailed to your door and ready for application. I find the hints for when and how to apply very helpful as well as the hints for lawn care. With all the news about rising prices of fertilizer I was worried my rates would change just prior to the spring season, but Sunday held the prices for the membership steady. I would love to tell you how great my lawn looks today, but here in central Texas I am just happy my lawn is still alive with the water restrictions in place.

Texas = Hot
Easy application and real time support, couldn’t be happier with the system. Had issues this past year with fungus growing, fixed with a better watering plan. Now my issue is the brutal Texas heat.

Aledo, Texas FAQs
How to grow grass in Aledo, Texas
| Recommended grass species | Bermuda grass, zoysia grass, buffalograss, St. Augustine grass |
| Best establishment method | Seeding, sodding, or plugging |
| Spring seeding window | April 17 to May 29 |
Growing grass in Aledo means working with hot, dry summers and alkaline soil that can stress even tough warm-season varieties. The upside? Bermuda and zoysia thrive here once established.
Your spring seeding window is shorter than you think
Aim to seed between mid-April and late May, when soil temps hit the sweet spot for germination. Prep alkaline soil with a good starter fertilizer and water deeply but less often to encourage roots to dig down. One common mistake: watering lightly every day (which keeps roots shallow and weak). Need help choosing? Find the right grass for my yard or browse our grass seed guides.
