Dripping Springs lawns grow in clay-heavy, alkaline soil that holds water tight but can stress roots in summer heat. The good news? Warm-season grasses like bermuda and St. Augustine actually thrive here once established.

Why Dripping Springs lawn care starts underground

That high calcium content (seriously high) means your soil locks up nutrients before grass can grab them. Water deeply but less often to encourage roots to dig down past the clay. And skip the lime treatments. Your pH is already alkaline, so adding more just makes things worse. Check out our lawn guides for more Hill Country tips.

    South Texas Fan

Living in San Antonio where we are under drought restrictions, managing a lawn is challenging. My Sunday plan supplemented with Drought Defense and Water Focus has produced amazing results on my turf. Add to that the ease and effectiveness of Weed Warrior on my rock beds, this company has a BIG fan.

    Texas Lawn

It is super convenient to have your lawn treatment mailed to your door and ready for application. I find the hints for when and how to apply very helpful as well as the hints for lawn care. With all the news about rising prices of fertilizer I was worried my rates would change just prior to the spring season, but Sunday held the prices for the membership steady. I would love to tell you how great my lawn looks today, but here in central Texas I am just happy my lawn is still alive with the water restrictions in place.

    Easy and efficient

Sunday Lawn care has been great for our grass growth. I do wish weed control was a little better as we were attacked my sticker-bearing weeds this year. But our grass has never been greener. It is easy to use and convenient. And price is 10x cheaper than anywhere you will find at just less than 30 minutes a month.

      Dripping Springs, Texas FAQs

Traditional lawn care services can run up to $1,500 per year. Sunday's custom plans start at $55 for the first box and include a free soil analysis, personalized nutrient schedule, and expert Yard Advisor consultations. Final pricing depends on your lawn size and any add-ons you choose.

The 1/3 rule means never cutting more than one-third of your grass blade length at a time. This keeps roots strong and reduces stress on your lawn. Mowing high (down to 3 to 3.5 inches) also helps shade soil and retain moisture during hot Texas summers.

Yes. October falls within the growing season for warm-season grasses common in Dripping Springs. Apply fertilizer when temps are between 50°F and 85°F and grass is actively growing. Sunday's custom plans time shipments to your region so nutrients arrive when your lawn actually needs them.

Mow when your grass reaches about 3 to 4 inches, typically once a week during peak growing season. Follow the 1/3 rule and leave clippings on the lawn. They break down and return nutrients to the soil (free fertilizer). Sharpen blades every six months for clean cuts.

Sunday's custom plans include 2 to 4 seasonal shipments of pesticide-free nutrients, a free soil test and analysis, a personalized application schedule, expert Yard Advisor consultations, and access to Sunny (your AI yard companion). You can add weed control, grass seed, or pest solutions as needed.

Look for a provider that customizes plans to your soil, climate, and lawn size rather than offering one-size-fits-all treatments. Sunday uses satellite imagery, local weather data, and soil analysis to build plans specific to your yard. Expert support and transparent ingredients matter too.

      Growing grass in Dripping Springs

Dripping Springs sits in Hill Country's warm arid zone, where alkaline clay soil and scorching summers make grass selection everything. The good news? Once you pick the right variety and nail your timing, these tough warm-season grasses actually thrive on a little neglect.

Your spring planting window is shorter than you think

Aim to seed or sod between early April and mid-May, when soil temps hit that sweet spot for germination. Prep your alkaline clay with a bit of compost to improve drainage. One common mistake: watering too often and too shallow. Deep, infrequent soaks encourage roots to dig down where moisture lasts.
