Fernandina Beach lawns have unique characteristics that require specific lawn care approaches. With an average lawn size of 3256.5 sq ft and soil that's 92% sand, homeowners face distinct challenges when maintaining their yards in this Florida coastal town.
The sandy soil composition explains why lawn care in Fernandina Beach requires special attention to water retention and nutrient management. The slightly basic soil pH (7.15) works well for the dominant warm-season grasses like bermudagrass, zoysiagrass, and St. Augustinegrass.
For successful Fernandina Beach lawn care:
- Watering strategy: Sandy soil drains quickly, so more frequent but shorter watering sessions help prevent runoff
- Nutrient needs: Despite good phosphorus levels, the low potassium content (34 ppm) means targeted fertilization is beneficial
- Soil improvement: With just 2.32% organic matter, adding compost can help with water retention
A Sunday Custom Lawn Plan tailored to these specific conditions makes maintaining your Florida lawn simpler. For deeper insights into your yard's specific needs, consider using a Sunday soil test kit to guide your lawn care decisions.

It's A Beautiful Thing
We dropped a well known Florida based lawn and pest control service. We began using Sunday products and couldn't be more pleased with the results. The lawn, it's St. Augustine grass, has never looked better. Very thick and plush green carpet like lawn. Pests are no longer an issue ie bugs, spiders, roaches are all gone. Grubs eliminated in the yard help promote a healthy lawn and fixed the mole problem. Finally, all of this for half of the price I was paying the "experts".
