Lawn care in Keller built for Texas heat

Keller sits in that sweet spot where Old Town charm meets suburban sprawl. Your lawn? It's dealing with warm, humid summers that turn moisture into a fungal playground.

Sunday uses satellite imagery of your actual yard and local climate data to build a plan that fits. No guesswork, just science that speaks Keller.

Why Keller yards need a local approach

    • Sandy soil drains fast, needs smarter watering
    • Alkaline pH locks up nutrients without the right balance
    • Humidity invites fungus when timing's off
    • Warm-season grasses thrive with seasonal feeding

    Lawn care for Keller, Texas

Average lawn size 3,635 sq ft
Dominant grass type Warm-season grasses like bermudagrass, zoysiagrass, and St. Augustine
Typical soil pH 7.7 (slightly alkaline)
    Organic matter 4.1%
Soil composition 60% sand, 30% silt, 10% clay (sandy loam)
Key nutrients Potassium 195 ppm, phosphorus 27 ppm, calcium 3,565 ppm

Keller lawns come with sandy soil that drains fast and a slightly alkaline pH. That's good news for warm-season grasses (they love the heat), but it means water disappears quickly and nutrients can get locked up.

What Keller lawn care really comes down to

Your sandy loam won't hold moisture long, so water deeply but less often to encourage roots to dig down. Skip the heavy fertilizer dumps. Alkaline soil already has plenty of calcium, and overdoing nitrogen is the most common local mistake. A slow, steady approach works better here. Check out our lawn guides for more warm-season tips.

    Texas Lawn

It is super convenient to have your lawn treatment mailed to your door and ready for application. I find the hints for when and how to apply very helpful as well as the hints for lawn care. With all the news about rising prices of fertilizer I was worried my rates would change just prior to the spring season, but Sunday held the prices for the membership steady. I would love to tell you how great my lawn looks today, but here in central Texas I am just happy my lawn is still alive with the water restrictions in place.

    Let's get started

      Keller, Texas FAQs

Professional lawn care services in Keller can run up to $1,500 per year. Sunday's custom lawn plans start at $55 for the first box and help you save hundreds compared to traditional services. Your total depends on lawn size and any add-ons you choose.

Never cut more than one-third of the grass blade in a single mow. This keeps your lawn healthy and reduces stress on the plant. In Keller's warm climate, following this rule helps grass stay resilient through hot summers and recover faster.

October is not too late to mow in Keller. Keep mowing as long as your grass is actively growing. Gradually lower your blade height over your final mows, aiming for 2-3 inches before winter. This helps prevent fungal issues during dormancy.

Mow when your grass needs it, not on a fixed schedule. During peak growing season, that might mean weekly. Slow down as growth slows. The goal is removing no more than one-third of the blade each time, which keeps roots strong and grass thick.

Look for a provider that customizes plans to your lawn's specific needs. Sunday uses soil analysis, local climate data, and satellite imagery of your property to build a plan that fits Keller's growing conditions. Every plan includes expert Yard Advisor consultations.

With a custom plan, DIY lawn care takes minutes per application. Sunday ships what you need when you need it, with a personalized schedule. Most of your time goes to mowing and watering. Two to three deep soakings per week beats daily shallow watering.

How to grow grass in Keller, Texas

Recommended grass species Bermudagrass, zoysiagrass, St. Augustinegrass, buffalograss
Best establishment method Seeding, sodding, or plugging
Spring seeding window April 16 to May 28

Keller's warm, humid summers and alkaline soil make warm-season grasses like Bermuda and zoysia feel right at home. The challenge? Humidity invites fungal issues if you're not careful with watering.

Your spring seeding window is tighter than you'd think

Mid-April through late May is prime time to get premium grass seed in the ground. One common mistake: watering in the evening, which keeps grass damp overnight and rolls out the welcome mat for fungus. Morning watering lets blades dry before dark. Not sure which variety suits your soil? Find the right grass for my yard.
