Lawn care for Mesquite, Texas
| Average lawn size | 2,894 sq ft |
| Dominant grass type | Warm-season grasses like bermudagrass, zoysia, and St. Augustine |
| Typical soil pH | 7.6 (slightly alkaline) |
| Organic matter | 5.12% |
| Soil composition | 20% sand, 25% silt, 55% clay (heavy clay soil) |
| Key nutrients | Potassium 216 ppm, phosphorus 53 ppm, calcium 4,713 ppm |
Mesquite lawns come with that heavy clay soil that holds water like a grudge and a slightly alkaline pH that can make nutrients play hard to get. The good news? Warm-season grasses like bermuda and St. Augustine actually thrive here once you work with the soil instead of against it.
Why Mesquite lawn care starts underground
That clay-heavy ground means water pools up top while roots struggle below. Aerate in late spring to give your grass room to breathe. Go easy on fertilizer since your soil already packs decent potassium and phosphorus. The common mistake? Overwatering because the surface looks dry when the clay underneath is still soaked. It beat the Texas heat!
The Micro Boost Liquid Fertilizer from Sunday has been nothing short of a revelation for my lawn care regimen. I live in Texas, a state notorious for its record-breaking summer heat, making it incredibly challenging to maintain a green, lush lawn. Before using this product, I tried multiple fertilizers with limited success, particularly in the peak of the summer. What sets Sunday's Micro Boost apart is its apparent resilience. Even in extreme temperatures, my grass remained mostly green. The texture and overall health of the lawn seemed to improve as well, displaying less of the brown patches and dry spots that are typical of a harsh Texan summer. The application process was very straightforward. The liquid formula is easy to distribute, and I felt confident knowing that I was using a product designed with environmental sustainability in mind.

Texas Lawn
It is super convenient to have your lawn treatment mailed to your door and ready for application. I find the hints for when and how to apply very helpful as well as the hints for lawn care. With all the news about rising prices of fertilizer I was worried my rates would change just prior to the spring season, but Sunday held the prices for the membership steady. I would love to tell you how great my lawn looks today, but here in central Texas I am just happy my lawn is still alive with the water restrictions in place.

Mesquite, Texas FAQs
How to grow grass in Mesquite, Texas
| Recommended grass species | Bermudagrass, zoysiagrass, St. Augustinegrass |
| Best establishment method | Seeding, sodding, or plugging |
| Spring seeding window | April 19 to May 31 |
Mesquite's warm, humid climate and alkaline clay soil make it ideal for heat-loving grasses like Bermuda, zoysia, and St. Augustine. The challenge? Humidity invites fungal issues, and that clay holds water tight.
Timing and soil prep matter more than you think
Plant warm-season grasses from late April through May when soil temps climb above 65°F. Work comite or gypsum into clay soil before planting to improve drainage. Water deeply but infrequently to encourage roots to dig down (not stay shallow and thirsty). One common mistake: overwatering in humid stretches, which turns your yard into a fungus buffet.
