New Port Richey lawn care starts with understanding your soil. Typical lawns in this Florida city measure 2228 sq ft and feature warm-season grasses like St. Augustine, zoysia, and bermuda. The sandy soil composition (92% sand) creates excellent drainage but requires special attention to lawn care practices.
The slightly acidic soil pH (6.85) works well for most warm-season grasses. With good organic matter levels (3.66%), New Port Richey lawns have a solid foundation for growth. Your soil contains key nutrients like phosphorus and potassium, but the sandy composition means nutrients can wash away quickly.
For successful lawn care in New Port Richey:
- Watering: Deep, infrequent watering encourages deeper root growth in sandy soil
- Fertilizing: Use slow-release fertilizers to prevent nutrient runoff
- Mowing: Keep St. Augustine at 3-4 inches tall during growing season
- Weed control: Address weeds early as they compete for nutrients

It's A Beautiful Thing
We dropped a well known Florida based lawn and pest control service. We began using Sunday products and couldn't be more pleased with the results. The lawn, it's St. Augustine grass, has never looked better. Very thick and plush green carpet like lawn. Pests are no longer an issue ie bugs, spiders, roaches are all gone. Grubs eliminated in the yard help promote a healthy lawn and fixed the mole problem. Finally, all of this for half of the price I was paying the "experts".
