Palmetto, FL lawns typically span around 3000 sq ft and feature warm-season grasses like St. Augustine, bermuda, and zoysia. The soil is predominantly sandy (92%) with basic pH levels of 7.55 and moderate organic matter at 2.74%.

Sandy soil in Palmetto creates specific lawn care challenges and opportunities:

    • Watering needs: Sandy soil drains quickly, requiring more frequent but shorter watering sessions for lawn care in Florida's warm climate
    • Fertilizing strategy: With good phosphorus levels (111.5 ppm) but moderate potassium (53 ppm), Palmetto lawns benefit from targeted nutrient applications
    • Mowing height: Keep warm-season grasses slightly higher during peak summer heat to promote deeper root growth

The high sand content means nutrients may leach away faster than in clay-heavy soils. A Sunday Custom Lawn Plan can help address these specific soil conditions with properly timed applications.

For more precise recommendations, consider using a Sunday soil test kit to analyze your exact lawn composition. Find additional warm-season grass tips on The Shed for effective weed control and soil health strategies.

    It's A Beautiful Thing

We dropped a well known Florida based lawn and pest control service. We began using Sunday products and couldn't be more pleased with the results. The lawn, it's St. Augustine grass, has never looked better. Very thick and plush green carpet like lawn. Pests are no longer an issue ie bugs, spiders, roaches are all gone. Grubs eliminated in the yard help promote a healthy lawn and fixed the mole problem. Finally, all of this for half of the price I was paying the "experts".

      Palmetto, Florida FAQs

Traditional lawn care services can cost up to $1500 per year in Palmetto. Sunday offers a more affordable option with custom lawn care plans starting between $55-100, based on your lawn size. Sunday plans include custom fertilizer, soil testing, weed and seed options, expert advice, and personalized schedules. Many Palmetto homeowners save hundreds annually while still getting a healthier, greener lawn.

In Palmetto's warm climate, mow St. Augustine grass weekly during spring and summer to maintain a 1-3 inch height. Never cut more than 1/3 of the blade at once. As growth slows in fall, reduce mowing frequency. Winter requires minimal mowing when grass is semi-dormant. Adjust based on rainfall and temperature changes that affect growth rates.

For your Palmetto home, consider your grass type first - St. Augustine and Bermuda are common in Florida. Look for solutions that address Florida's unique challenges like heat stress and heavy rainfall. Choose products that are safe for kids and pets. A soil test helps identify your lawn's specific needs. Sunday's custom plans use your lawn size, local climate data, and soil analysis to deliver exactly what your yard needs.

For a healthy Palmetto yard, apply pre-emergent weed control in early spring and start fertilizing when grass actively grows. Summer calls for deep watering (1 inch weekly) and spot-treating weeds. Fall is perfect for fixing bare patches with Sunday's Bare Repair products. Reduce fertilizer as winter approaches. Year-round, maintain proper mowing height for your grass type - typically 1-3 inches for St. Augustine grass.

Palmetto lawns battle heat stress during hot summers - water deeply but infrequently. High humidity creates fungal diseases like dollar spot - water in morning hours to reduce this risk. Weeds love Florida's climate - Sunday's targeted weed control helps. Heavy rainfall can wash away nutrients - Sunday's slow-release fertilizers work better. Bare patches from pets or foot traffic can be fixed with Sunday's Bare Repair products.

Getting a personalized schedule for your Palmetto yard is simple with Sunday. Visit getsunday.com and enter your address to create a profile. Sunday uses local climate data, satellite imagery, and your lawn size to build a custom plan. Your first shipment includes a soil test kit to fine-tune recommendations. You'll receive a complete schedule showing when to apply each product throughout your growing season.
