Most Panama City lawns grow warm-season grasses like bermudagrass and zoysiagrass, which thrive in the local conditions.
The slightly acidic soil pH of 6.5 works well for most grass types, but the low organic matter (1.7%) suggests room for improvement. A soil test can help determine if your lawn needs specific nutrients.
Key steps for Panama City lawn care:
- Water deeply but less frequently to encourage deep root growth in sandy soil
- Follow a regular fertilizer schedule to maintain nutrient levels
- Mow at proper height for your grass type
- Add organic matter through grass clippings and lawn care products to improve soil structure

Wow! Two and a half
Wow! Two and a half years ago I had sparse zoysia grass on one corner of my back yard and the rest (2/3) was all sand and nasty little sand spurs (ouch). It's not easy to get grass to grow well only 3 blocks from the beach. But with Sunday bags of lawn treats, I now have almost an entire lawn of beautiful green healthy grass -- just a couple of small patches to finish growing in. It's lush and cushy under my feet. Love it!
