    Lawn care for Pflugerville, Texas

Average lawn size 3,200 sq ft
Dominant grass type Warm-season grasses like bermudagrass, zoysia, and St. Augustine
    Typical soil pH 8.0 (alkaline)
    Organic matter 2.86%
Soil composition 19% sand, 35% silt, 46% clay (clay soil)
Key nutrients Potassium 220 ppm, phosphorus 21 ppm, calcium 10,533 ppm

Pflugerville lawns deal with heavy clay soil and alkaline conditions, which can make drainage tricky and nutrients harder to absorb. The good news? Warm-season grasses like bermuda and St. Augustine actually thrive here once you work with the soil instead of against it.

Why Pflugerville lawn care starts underground

That clay-heavy ground holds water tight, so overwatering is the mistake we see most. Water deeply but less often to encourage roots to dig down. Iron supplements help green things up when high pH locks out nutrients. Check out our lawn guides for more Texas-specific tips.

    Texas Lawn

It is super convenient to have your lawn treatment mailed to your door and ready for application. I find the hints for when and how to apply very helpful as well as the hints for lawn care. With all the news about rising prices of fertilizer I was worried my rates would change just prior to the spring season, but Sunday held the prices for the membership steady. I would love to tell you how great my lawn looks today, but here in central Texas I am just happy my lawn is still alive with the water restrictions in place.

    Texas = Hot

Easy application and real time support, couldn’t be happier with the system. Had issues this past year with fungus growing, fixed with a better watering plan. Now my issue is the brutal Texas heat.

      Pflugerville, Texas FAQs

Professional lawn care services can run up to $1,500 per year in the Pflugerville area. Sunday's custom lawn plans start at $55 for your first box and include personalized nutrient schedules, free soil analysis, and expert consultations.

Lawn maintenance covers the physical tasks like mowing, edging, and debris removal. Lawn care focuses on grass health through fertilizing, soil improvement, weed management, and seeding. Both work together to keep your Pflugerville yard thriving through Texas heat.

Never cut more than one-third of your grass blade height at a time. This prevents stress on your lawn and encourages thicker turf that naturally resists weeds. For Pflugerville's warm-season grasses, mowing on the highest setting helps build resilience.

October mowing is still appropriate for Pflugerville lawns. Warm-season grasses like Bermuda and St. Augustine stay active until temperatures consistently drop. Keep mowing as needed, gradually raising your blade height as growth slows heading into winter.

Sunday's plans include custom pesticide-free nutrients tailored to your lawn size and local climate, a personalized schedule, free soil analysis, and expert Yard Advisor consultations. You can add weed control, grass seed, and pest solutions as needed.

Tipping lawn care providers is optional but appreciated for exceptional service. For regular maintenance visits, $10 to $20 is common. Holiday tips or end-of-season bonuses are a nice way to thank providers who consistently go above expectations.

How to grow grass in Pflugerville, Texas

Recommended grass species Bermudagrass, zoysiagrass, St. Augustinegrass, buffalograss
Best establishment method Seeding, sodding, or plugging
Spring seeding window April 5 to May 17

Growing grass in Pflugerville means working with hot, dry summers and alkaline clay soil. Warm-season grasses thrive here, but timing and soil prep matter more than you'd think.

Your spring seeding window is tighter than it looks

Mid-April through mid-May is prime time for seeding Bermuda, zoysia, or St. Augustine. Before you plant, loosen that clay and consider a soil amendment to balance the pH. Water deeply but less often to encourage roots to dig down (shallow watering in this heat just creates thirsty, weak grass). One common mistake: seeding too late and watching summer scorch young seedlings before they establish.
