Lawn Care in Plano, TX for Hot Humid Summers
Plano lawn care means outsmarting humidity and heat stress before they outsmart your grass.

Lawn care in Plano built for Texas heat
Plano summers don't mess around. Between the humidity that hangs in the air and temperatures that make asphalt soft, your lawn is working overtime just to survive.
That's where Sunday comes in. We use satellite imagery of your actual yard, local climate data, and a proprietary lawn analysis to build a plan that fits Plano, Texas (not some generic "warm region" advice).
Why Plano yards need a smarter approach
- Alkaline clay soil that locks up nutrients without the right balance
- Warm-season grasses matched to your specific property
- Seasonal timing based on local growing patterns

| Average lawn size | 2,918 sq ft (based on 400+ local soil tests) |
| Dominant grass type | Warm-season grasses |
| Typical soil pH | 7.8 (slightly alkaline) |
| Organic matter | 6.0% |

Plano lawns come with that classic North Texas challenge: heavy clay soil that holds water like a grudge and a slightly alkaline pH that can lock up nutrients. The good news? Warm-season grasses actually thrive here once you understand what's happening underground.
Smart lawn care starts with knowing your clay
That clay-heavy soil means watering deeply but less often works better than frequent sprinkles (which just create shallow roots and sad grass). Skip the generic fertilizer schedule and focus on what your soil actually needs. One common mistake? Over-fertilizing in summer heat, which stresses grass instead of helping it. Our lawn guides break down the timing that works for Texas yards.

Texas Lawn
It is super convenient to have your lawn treatment mailed to your door and ready for application. I find the hints for when and how to apply very helpful as well as the hints for lawn care. With all the news about rising prices of fertilizer I was worried my rates would change just prior to the spring season, but Sunday held the prices for the membership steady. I would love to tell you how great my lawn looks today, but here in central Texas I am just happy my lawn is still alive with the water restrictions in place.

Texas = Hot
Easy application and real time support, couldn’t be happier with the system. Had issues this past year with fungus growing, fixed with a better watering plan. Now my issue is the brutal Texas heat.

Plano, Texas FAQs
How to grow grass in Plano, Texas
| Recommended grass species | Bermudagrass, zoysiagrass, St. Augustinegrass, buffalograss |
| Best establishment method | Seeding, sodding, or plugging |
| Spring seeding window | April 20 to June 1 |
Plano's alkaline clay soil and humid summers create a tricky combo for lawns. Warm-season grasses like Bermuda and zoysia handle the heat, but moisture management matters more than you'd think.
Why your spring timing window is tighter than it feels
That late April to early June seeding window closes fast once Texas heat kicks in. Prep clay soil by aerating before you plant (compacted clay suffocates roots). Water deeply but less often to push roots down. The common mistake? Overwatering new grass in humid weather, which invites fungus faster than a potluck invites casseroles.
