Lawn care for Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida
| Average lawn size | 3,221 sq ft |
| Dominant grass type | Warm-season grasses like St. Augustine, bermudagrass, and zoysia |
| Typical soil pH | 7.4 (slightly alkaline) |
| Organic matter | 4.0% |
| Soil composition | 92% sand, 5% silt, 3% clay (sandy soil) |
| Key nutrients | Potassium 44 ppm, phosphorus 104 ppm, calcium 1,844 ppm |
Ponte Vedra Beach lawns grow in almost pure sand, which means water drains fast and nutrients don't stick around long. The good news? That sandy soil stays loose and roots love it. The challenge is keeping everything fed and hydrated without overdoing it.
Sandy soil lawn care needs a lighter touch
With 92% sand underfoot, your lawn drinks water like it's headed somewhere else (because it is). Water deeply but less often to encourage roots to dig down. Fertilize in smaller doses more frequently since nutrients wash through quickly. One common mistake here: overwatering to compensate for fast drainage, which just invites fungus in our humid summers. Sunday works
I’ve been very impressed with Sunday. I started the program in spring 2021 and I’m reaping the benefits. My grass continues to come in more healthy than previous years and spots that have been difficult are now filling in.

It's A Beautiful Thing
We dropped a well known Florida based lawn and pest control service. We began using Sunday products and couldn't be more pleased with the results. The lawn, it's St. Augustine grass, has never looked better. Very thick and plush green carpet like lawn. Pests are no longer an issue ie bugs, spiders, roaches are all gone. Grubs eliminated in the yard help promote a healthy lawn and fixed the mole problem. Finally, all of this for half of the price I was paying the "experts".

I wish I had photos
I wish I had photos from before I started my Sunday journey. The smart plan makes it so easy to give your lawn everything it needs, and with the tips and suggestions on the website. - my lawn went from dreary weed patches to super green St. Augustine in no time. You gotta remember to water the lawn in between rainy days, even in Florida.

Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida FAQs
How to grow grass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida
| Recommended grass species | St. augustinegrass, zoysiagrass, bermudagrass, centipedegrass, bahiagrass |
| Best establishment method | Seeding, sodding, or plugging |
| Spring seeding window | April 3 to May 15 |
Ponte Vedra Beach lawns thrive in sandy, alkaline soil and warm humidity, but that same moisture invites fungal issues if you're not careful. Warm-season grasses like St. Augustine and zoysia love the heat here, though timing your planting matters.
Sandy soil and salty air shape your lawn choices
Your spring seeding window runs early April through mid-May, when soil temps stay warm enough for germination. Water deeply but less often to encourage roots to dig down past that fast-draining sand. One common slip-up? Overwatering in humid stretches, which rolls out the welcome mat for fungus. Check out our grass seed guides for species that handle coastal conditions.
