Sunday brings smart lawn care to Round Rock

Round Rock sits in Texas hill country where summer heat doesn't mess around. Your soil here runs alkaline with heavy clay underneath (we've analyzed over 300 local lawns to know this firsthand).

That combo can stress even tough warm-season grasses like Bermuda and St. Augustine. Sunday builds custom plans around these exact conditions so your yard gets what it actually needs.

Why Round Rock lawns need a local approach

    • Alkaline clay soil requires adjusted nutrient blends
    • Warm arid climate calls for drought-smart timing
    • Satellite imagery sizes your yard to the square foot
    • Proprietary lawn analysis reveals what's hiding in your soil

Lawn care for Round Rock, Texas

Average lawn size 3,225 sq ft (based on 300+ local soil tests)
    Dominant grass type Warm-season grasses
    Typical soil pH 7.9 (alkaline)
    Organic matter 4.42%
Soil composition 19% sand, 35% silt, 46% clay (clay-rich soil)
Key nutrients Potassium 248 ppm, phosphorus 32 ppm, calcium 9,278 ppm

Round Rock lawns sit on heavy clay soil that holds water tight and drains slow. The alkaline conditions here favor warm-season grasses like Bermuda and St. Augustine, but that dense clay can stress roots during our brutal summers.

What Round Rock lawn care really comes down to

Water deeply but less often to encourage roots to push through that clay. Skip the quick-release fertilizers that burn in alkaline soil. One common mistake? Overwatering because the surface looks dry while clay holds moisture below. Our lawn guides break down the timing that actually works here.

    Best Lawn in Years!

We have struggled to keep our lawn up to the standards of our HOA for years and had hired several different lawn companies to do so - they all failed. Our Sunday products, on an annual basis, are less than a couple months of lawn care and our lawn has never looked better!

This product is better than any in person service. It allows people who love to work on their own laws, but need professional help to do so to take care of their own lawns.

    Texas Lawn

It is super convenient to have your lawn treatment mailed to your door and ready for application. I find the hints for when and how to apply very helpful as well as the hints for lawn care. With all the news about rising prices of fertilizer I was worried my rates would change just prior to the spring season, but Sunday held the prices for the membership steady. I would love to tell you how great my lawn looks today, but here in central Texas I am just happy my lawn is still alive with the water restrictions in place.

      Round Rock, Texas FAQs

Professional lawn services can run up to $1,500 per year. Sunday's custom plans start at $55 for your first box and include pesticide-free nutrients, a free soil analysis, and expert consultations. Your total depends on lawn size and any add-ons you choose.

Never cut more than one-third of your grass height at a time. This prevents stress and helps build thicker turf that naturally crowds out weeds. Mow on the highest setting and leave clippings on the lawn to return nutrients to the soil.

Round Rock falls in warm-season grass territory, so fertilize during active growth from late spring through mid-summer. Apply when temps are between 50°F and 85°F, and water your lawn beforehand. Sunday ships nutrients timed to your local climate.

Round Rock sits in USDA Zone 8b, with warm-season grasses like Bermuda, St. Augustine, and Zoysia thriving here. Sunday uses your local climate data and satellite imagery to build a plan matched to your specific growing conditions.

Water deeply two to three times weekly, mow high, and feed consistently. Sunday fertilizers typically show results in four to six weeks. Overseed thin spots and pull weeds by hand before spot-treating. A thick lawn is your best long-term defense.

Watch for yellowing patches, bare spots, excessive weeds, or spongy thatch buildup. Drought stress and fungal issues often show as brown or wilting grass. A soil test helps pinpoint nutrient deficiencies so you can address the root cause.

How to grow grass in Round Rock, Texas

Recommended grass species Bermudagrass, zoysiagrass, St. Augustinegrass, buffalograss
Best establishment method Seeding, sodding, or plugging

      Growing grass in Round Rock

Round Rock's alkaline clay soil and scorching summers make lawn care feel like a test of patience. But the right warm-season grass (think Bermuda, zoysia, or St. Augustine) actually thrives here once established.

Your spring seeding window is shorter than you think

Mid-April through mid-May is prime time to get seed or sod in the ground before the real heat arrives. Prep matters: loosen that clay, water deeply but less often, and resist the urge to fertilize too early. The most common mistake? Shallow daily watering that keeps roots weak and thirsty.
