Helpful Tips from Lawn Advisors:
What is a urine-resistant seed?
More than 160 varieties of grass seed were tested for highest levels of resiliency to pet urine. Ultimately this combo of tetraploid ryegrass and tall fescue grasses resists the most damage from dog urine.
When to plant fescue grass seed?
The optimal time to seed this mix is during spring and fall when temperatures consistently range between 55 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit. You can also seed this mix in winter months when temperatures consistently fall below 40 degrees F.
How long does fescue grass seed take to grow?
Expect germination between 3-12 days.
How to plant fescue grass seed?
- Apply at the correct rate. For overseeding, use 2 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft.; for starting a new lawn from scratch, use 8 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. For patching, cover the area lightly with seed and topdress with compost or a light layer of soil if desired.
- Start at the lowest setting and apply uniformly. For hand or drop spreader applications, no matter the spreader type, always begin at the lowest setting. Increase the spreader setting if the seed is getting stuck or not easily distributed. Walk at a consistent pace across the lawn to distribute seed uniformly. Check after application for uniformity and reapply in areas where coverage is light.
- Water the seed to germination. Keep seed moist, not oversaturated, until grass seed germinates - depending on grass type this can be 1-3 weeks. Avoid letting new or germinating seeds dry out to ensure successful seeding.

I used & cared for this grass seed exactly as directed but absolutely nothing grew. I am disappointed, because we have a large dog that runs *hard* around the yard and there were a few spots (her turning points) that we just mud/dirt and I really wanted a nice, strong grass in those spots.
Having a hard time keeping up with my Beagle’s tracks , a lot of brown spots.
I used two bags of this stuff on a 600 sq ft area and attained less than desirable results on my backyard. I used a different local seed on my front yard and got way better results. This moisture boost coating is all non-sense. Half the bag is that junk so that means you only get 1. 5 lbs of seed on...
I signed up for the Sunday yard care plan and added this as I have a pup now who’s killing my yard. I followed the instruction and even added the extra of putting down some fresh topsoil before applying the seed and over a week in I have no germination anywhere. It hasn’t been overly hot and I’v...
Tried to patch multiple spots throughout small yard in SoCal, but minimal germination at best. I used a big box store brand to compare and it worked fine. Sunday products are not efficacious.
We used 2 bags of this grass seed, thinking the first time we used it maybe it was just a bad batch. Neither batch ever took root/sprouted. We followed the directions to a T and never got green grass not preventative urine spots.
This product did not work for me at all. I followed the instructions diligently and got no results. It did not grow at all even with careful mulching and watering. This was a waste of time, money, and effort.
It works perfectly when you follow the instructions. I enjoy this product and look forward in more advanced products.
Excellent. Easy Maintenance. Coverage is thick and healthy. Holding up well to 2 Bulldogs.
Tried on small spot, seemed to work pretty well where dog's peed, however not as effective as some of the seed w/ mulch mixtures i've used in the past. Great for overseeding lawn to help prevent future spots!
