Dog urine resistant seed that recovers

Pet Lawn Grass Seed is a cool-season tall fescue and ryegrass blend, picked from 160+ tested varieties for urine resistance. One bag fixes dog spots now, the other thickens your lawn in fall. Pair with Pet Patch for soil repair or build a Custom Lawn Plan.

What makes Pet Lawn Grass Seed (2-Pack) different

  • Urine-resistant blend that bounces back fast
  • 160+ varieties tested, 85% germination rate
  • 99.9% weed-free seed guarantee
  • Grows in full sun to partial shade
  • Deep rooting for high traffic tolerance
  • A-LIST approved for quality and sustainability

Ingredients

Tetraploid perennial ryegrass. Germinates quickly and fills in bare spots with a dense, dark green stand that holds up to heavy foot traffic.

Turf-type tall fescues. Deep-rooting grasses that tolerate dog urine, drought, and a wide range of soil types, keeping your lawn thick where it matters most.

How to use

Best results when temps are between 55 and 75 degrees F, spring and fall are ideal.

  1. For overseeding, mow your lawn shorter than usual, then spread seed at 2 lbs per 1,000 sq ft. Each bag covers up to 2,500 sq ft at this rate.
  2. For spot repair, loosen the soil in bare or damaged areas, then spread seed at 8 lbs per 1,000 sq ft. Each bag covers about 625 sq ft of heavy repair.
  3. Rake lightly to press seed into the soil surface.
  4. Water once or twice daily to keep the seedbed consistently moist. Expect germination in 7 to 14 days.
  5. Limit foot traffic for 3 to 4 weeks while new grass establishes

How much lawn does the 2-pack cover?

Pet Lawn Grass Seed (2-Pack) covers up to 5,000 sq ft at the overseeding rate of 2 lbs per 1,000 sq ft. At the spot repair rate of 8 lbs per 1,000 sq ft, 2 bag covers about 1,250 sq ft of heavy repair.

What makes this grass seed resistant to dog urine?

Pet Lawn Grass Seed is a blend of tetraploid perennial ryegrass and select tall fescues, chosen from over 160 tested varieties for urine resistance. The combination recovers quickly from dog urine damage and holds up to heavy pet traffic on cool-season lawns.

What is the difference between Pet Lawn and Pet Patch?

Pet Lawn Grass Seed regrows grass in bare and damaged areas using urine-resistant seed. Pet Patch is a liquid soil treatment that conditions soil after urine damage but does not contain seed.

Use Pet Patch to treat soil first, then seed with Pet Lawn to fill in bare spots.

Can I save one bag and use it later in the fall?

Yes. Pet Lawn Grass Seed stores well in a cool, dry place. Many customers repair dog spots in spring or summer with one bag, then overseed the full lawn in fall when soil temps drop to the ideal 50 to 65 degrees F range.

How long does Pet Lawn Grass Seed take to germinate?

Pet Lawn Grass Seed germinates in 7 to 14 days when soil is kept consistently moist. If the soil dries out, even for a few days, germination can stall.

Water once or twice daily until you see new growth.

Will this seed work on my warm-season lawn?

No. Pet Lawn Grass Seed is a cool-season blend for northern and transitional regions where lawns go dormant in winter. It is not compatible with warm-season grasses like bermuda, zoysia, or St. Augustine.

Finally grass!!

I have two dogs that go in the same spot, creating bare spots all over. We have tried top brands of grass seed the last two years and nothing grew. Sunday pet lawn finally did it. I am soo happy to see grass in our bare spots again. I used sunday pet patch fertilizer before planting seed. Make sure ...

Bad germination

I’ve now planted this in many bare spots and in just about every area I’m only getting about a 20% germination rate. The areas were raked in and covered with a bit of topsoil. All areas were water 2-3x daily depending on weather.

We're sorry to hear that and appreciate the detailed feedback. It sounds like you put in the effort to prepare and water the areas properly, so we understand how disappointing a low germination rate can be. Grass seed success can also be affected by soil temperature, seed-to-soil contact, existing weed competition, and heavy rain or washout. We'd love to learn a bit more about your growing conditions and timing so we can help figure out what may have limited germination and get those bare spots filling in.

Excellent Pet Friendly Seed

This pet friendly seed is amazing! My yard was so "jacked-up" with about 35% of it suffering significant sized bare spots where watering had no effect. After applying this seed all over the yard (and putting peat-moss over it with a roller), my yard became a lush green and those bare spots disappear...

This seed came with my lawn care plan. I put it down in Fall of last year, and now I have poa trivialis all over my lawn. Thanks Sunday!!! I'm quitting you.

We’re really sorry to hear this, we know how frustrating it is to see something like that pop up after putting in the work. Poa trivialis usually shows up from existing soil or surrounding areas rather than seed, but we definitely want to help you get ahead of it and recover those areas. If you can, reach out to us at [email protected] and our yard advisors will work with you to get things moving in the right direction again

Disappointed

I used & cared for this grass seed exactly as directed but absolutely nothing grew. I am disappointed, because we have a large dog that runs *hard* around the yard and there were a few spots (her turning points) that we just mud/dirt and I really wanted a nice, strong grass in those spots.

We're sorry to hear that this was your experience with Sunday! There are a few factors that may have affected your seed germination. 1. Applying the correct rate (or amount of seed). By over-application, we're referring to applying outside of our labeled and recommended seed rates. Over-application of seed can result in too much seed in a single area and cause it to not germinate successfully. 2. Watering correctly is critical. The soil needs to be moist, but not saturated, until grass has germinated. If it gets dried out even for a few days, it may not grow from the soil. 3. Germination rates should be about 7-21 days, but can be more if conditions are not quite right.

Ripoff

I used two bags of this stuff on a 600 sq ft area and attained less than desirable results on my backyard. I used a different local seed on my front yard and got way better results. This moisture boost coating is all non-sense. Half the bag is that junk so that means you only get 1. 5 lbs of seed on...

No growth

I signed up for the Sunday yard care plan and added this as I have a pup now who’s killing my yard. I followed the instruction and even added the extra of putting down some fresh topsoil before applying the seed and over a week in I have no germination anywhere. It hasn’t been overly hot and I’v...

Minimal Germination

Tried to patch multiple spots throughout small yard in SoCal, but minimal germination at best. I used a big box store brand to compare and it worked fine. Sunday products are not efficacious.

Not a “verified buyer”

We used 2 bags of this grass seed, thinking the first time we used it maybe it was just a bad batch. Neither batch ever took root/sprouted. We followed the directions to a T and never got green grass not preventative urine spots.
