How to kill crabgrass in your lawn
Sunday makes it easy to get rid of crabgrass in your lawn, and the right product depends on timing.
If you're dealing with crabgrass that hasn't sprouted yet, Weed & Green is your move.
- It's a pre-emergent that stops crabgrass underground before it ever shows its face.
- Apply once daily temps hold above 50 to 55 degrees for a few days, and you can reapply 3 to 6 weeks later for extra coverage.
Planning to seed?
Wait at least 24 hours after applying Weed & Green.
Already seeing crabgrass? Time for Weed Warrior.
It works on contact, so you'll spot-treat individual patches.
Fair warning though:
- Weed Warrior removes any plant it touches, grass included, so stay precise.
- You'll want to wait 5 days after treatment before seeding those bare spots.
- If crabgrass has taken over most of your yard and you're seeing seed heads, mow those seed heads before they set and focus on prevention for next spring.
Once you've cleared the area, fill in with plugs or seed. A thick, healthy lawn is your best long-term defense because crabgrass loves bare spots. Take those away and you've taken away its invitation.
