Cibolo, TX lawns average 2600 sq ft and feature warm-season grasses like bermudagrass, zoysiagrass, and St. Augustinegrass. The soil in this Texas city has some distinct characteristics that affect lawn care approaches.

With clay-heavy soil (46% clay), Cibolo lawns retain water well but may drain slowly. The basic soil pH of 7.9 means certain nutrients become less available to grass. This impacts how you should approach fertilizing and watering practices.

For effective lawn care in Cibolo:

    • Watering: Deep, infrequent watering works best with clay soil
    • Mowing: Keep warm-season grasses at 2-3 inches tall
    • Soil health: The 4.21% organic matter is good, but adding compost can improve clay soil structure
    • Nutrient management: The high calcium levels (8554 ppm) are typical of alkaline soils

Understanding your specific lawn conditions is key to success. A soil test kit can provide detailed insights about your yard's needs. For more lawn tips specific to Texas, visit The Shed.

    Texas Lawn

It is super convenient to have your lawn treatment mailed to your door and ready for application. I find the hints for when and how to apply very helpful as well as the hints for lawn care. With all the news about rising prices of fertilizer I was worried my rates would change just prior to the spring season, but Sunday held the prices for the membership steady. I would love to tell you how great my lawn looks today, but here in central Texas I am just happy my lawn is still alive with the water restrictions in place.

    Let's get started

      Cibolo, Texas FAQs

Traditional lawn care services can cost up to $1500 per year in Cibolo. Sunday offers a more affordable option with custom lawn plans starting at $80, based on your lawn size and needs. Each plan includes custom lawn fertilizer, a soil test kit with expert analysis, and unlimited access to Yard Advisors. You'll also get customized application schedules timed for Texas growing seasons. Many homeowners save hundreds of dollars yearly by switching to Sunday's approach.

For Cibolo lawns, first consider your grass type. Warm-season grasses like zoysia and St. Augustine work well in Texas heat. Think about water needs, as proper irrigation is crucial in hot climates. Your soil quality matters too, so a soil test helps identify specific nutrient needs. Consider your time commitment and whether you prefer DIY or guided care. Finally, think about kid and pet safety when selecting products. Sunday's custom plans address all these factors for Texas lawns.

The 1/3 rule means never cutting more than one-third of your grass height in a single mowing. In Cibolo's hot climate, this rule helps grass handle heat stress better. For common Texas grasses like zoysia, maintain a 2-3 inch height during summer. Cutting too much at once shocks the grass and makes it more likely to brown out in the heat. Mow regularly with sharp blades to avoid shredding grass leaves.

Common mistakes in Cibolo include watering too often but not deeply enough. Many homeowners cut grass too short, making it less heat-resistant. Over-fertilizing wastes money and can harm your lawn. Applying pre-emergent weed control at the wrong time reduces its effectiveness. Using the wrong grass type for Texas heat leads to constant struggles. Ignoring soil testing means missing important nutrient information. Sunday's approach helps fix these issues with customized plans.

Mow weekly during peak growing season, maintaining proper height for your grass type. Water deeply 1-2 times per week rather than daily light watering. Apply fertilizer according to your Sunday plan, typically 4-6 times yearly. Tackle weeds in spring and fall when they're most vulnerable. For warm-season Texas lawns, summer is the best time for patching bare spots. Check soil moisture regularly during hot months and adjust watering as needed.

Choose heat-tolerant grasses like zoysia that handle Texas conditions well. Water deeply but infrequently to develop strong roots that survive dry spells. Follow a custom fertilizer plan based on your soil test results. Mow at the right height, keeping grass taller during summer heat. Combat weeds early before they take hold. Consider adding clover for natural nitrogen. Use Sunday's Drought Defense during hot months to help your lawn make the most of available water.
