Fescue Rescue is a tall fescue grass seed mix built from three premium turf-type cultivars. Deep roots, dark green color, and drought tolerance that keeps your lawn alive when the neighbors' goes crispy. It handles disease, insects, and heavy foot traffic. Ingredients
Turf-type tall fescue variety 1, selected for dark green color and deep root development. Turf-type tall fescue variety 2, selected for drought tolerance and disease resistance. Turf-type tall fescue variety 3, selected for wear tolerance and insect resistance. Individual cultivar names are proprietary and not listed on the product label. All three are A-LIST approved.
How to use
Plant in spring or fall when temperatures stay between 55 to 75 degrees F. You can also dormant seed in winter below 40 degrees F.
- Prep your soil. Rake to loosen the top layer and remove debris so seed makes good contact with dirt.
- Spread your seed. For overseeding, use 2 lbs per 1,000 sq ft. For new lawns or heavy repair, use 8 lbs per 1,000 sq ft.
- Cover lightly. Rake a thin layer of soil or compost over the seed. You want contact, not burial.
- Water consistently. Keep the soil moist (not soaked) until you see sprouts. Expect them in 6 to 12 days.
- Hold off on mowing. Let your new grass reach about 3 to 4 inches before the first cut.

Tons of green growth
This seed blend combined with Sunday’s fertilizers worked awesome for our struggling Idaho lawn. I seeded 3 times over the course of about 2 months and we had tons of growth and it’s continuing to fill in bare spots months later.

Watch out for clumping fescue!
I debated adding a star because it did germinate…after using I started getting dark clumps of fescue over my lawn, sure enough reading the label closer and talking with support found that the mix has clumping fescue in it. Absolutely ruined the look and feel of my lawn. It’s now super bumpy due to the taller, random clumps of fescue all over, and the look is horrble. Two years later it continues to spread through out the lawn despite not using it again…but they said they were sorry. Valuable lesson learned for me to thoroughly read labels. No choice now but to continue to let it spread, and/or continue to use it to complete the hostile takeover of my lawn.

High expectations, no results
Filled in this hole from a concrete block with fresh topsoil. Generously seeded and carefully raked in, then watered every day for 4 weeks. Nothing going on. Pretty disappointed.

By over-application, we're referring to applying outside of our labeled and recommended seed rates. Over-application of seed can result in too much seed in a single area and cause it to not germinate successfully. 2. Watering correctly is critical. The soil needs to be moist, but not saturated, until grass has germinated. If it gets dried out even for a few days, it may not grow from the soil. 3. Germination rates should be about 7-21 days, but can be more if conditions are not quite right.

Added more weeds to my lawn
My front and back yards are not connected. I have cement and space between each. My back yard had a small amount of thistle in one area, for many years, has NEVER spread before. I used to just mow over them and they would grow back slow. I had dandelions from my front yard neighbor. I purchased the dandelion killer and rescue seed to help. Both of my lawns have weeds I haven't even seen before. I can't get rid of them. They came right after I used this product.

If you've recently raked or tilled your area in order to spread new seed, you may have disturbed a seed bank in your lawn, which can lead to new weeds that you haven't experience before. It sounds like the thistle in your lawn was well-established; these mature weeds can require multiple applications of weed control. For best results, apply in direct heat and sunlight, and try removing any seed heads and splitting the stems of mature weeds before applying weed control.

Little to no germination
I applied several bags of this a couple of weeks ago for a Spring seeding and there were many bare spots I was trying to fill in. After weeks of watering and rain, and proper temperatures, I see very little germination in some places, and none in others. Hard to tell how it's worked on the rest of the lawn, but feels like I wasted my money at this point.

Question: If sesding with fescue rescue - can the pre-emergent weed and green be used at the same time? Or will that affect germination of the seed?

No, don’t use pre-emergent at the same time as seeding. It stops seeds from sprouting, so it’ll block your fescue seed too and hurt germination. Best plan is to: -Seed first -Wait ~4–6 weeks (or 2–3 mowings) -Then apply pre-emergent Gives your grass the best shot to establish!

Question: Hi. Could you tell me exacftly what the 3 types of fescue there are in your Fescue Rescue product? I want to avoid any type of "creeping" fescue. Thanks.

We use a combination of these cultivars in our Tall Fescue products: Rhizing Moon Fayette Nightcrawler SuperSonic Avenger III Titanium G-LS None of the cultivars that we include are creeping.

As long as your seed is not more than two years old and has been properly stored, it should be just fine to use!
