Ingredients

How to use

  1. Time it right. Plant in spring or fall when temperatures are between 55 and 75 degrees F. Winter dormant seeding works below 40 degrees F.
  2. Set your rate. Use 2 lbs per 1,000 sq ft for overseeding, or 8 lbs per 1,000 sq ft for new lawns and heavy repair.
  3. Start low on your spreader. Begin at the lowest setting and adjust up until you hit the right coverage.
  4. Water consistently. Keep the seed moist for 1 to 3 weeks until it sprouts. Light, frequent watering beats one heavy soak.
  5. Watch it fill in. Expect to see sprouts in 7 to 14 days. Keep foot traffic light until your new grass is established.

When is the best time to plant Fescue Rescue grass seed?

Fescue Rescue grass seed grows best when planted in spring or fall, when temps are between 55 and 75 degrees F.

You can also do a dormant seeding in winter when temps drop below 40 degrees F. The seed sits tight until conditions are right, then gets a head start come spring.

How long does Fescue Rescue take to germinate?

Fescue Rescue typically germinates in 7 to 14 days when you keep the seed consistently moist, and conditions are right.

Plan on watering lightly 1 to 3 weeks until you see sprouts pushing through. A little patience here goes a long way toward a thick, green lawn.

How much Fescue Rescue seed do I need for my lawn?

Fescue Rescue covers up to 5,000 sq ft at the overseeding rate.

For overseeding healthy lawns, use 2 lbs per 1,000 sq ft.

Starting a brand new lawn or patching lots of bare spots? Go with 8 lbs per 1,000 sq ft for full coverage.

Can I use Fescue Rescue to fix bare spots in my lawn?

Fescue Rescue is a great pick for patching bare spots. Spread seed heavily over the area and topdress with a thin layer of soil.

Keep the spot moist for 1 to 3 weeks until germination kicks in. With an 85% germination rate and 99.9% weed-free seed, you'll see results fast

Can I mow after overseeding with Fescue Rescue?

After overseeding with Fescue Rescue, hold off on mowing until the new grass is tall enough to mow.

Keep foot and other traffic light while the seedlings get established. Giving them a few weeks to root in helps those deep root systems develop the way they should.

What is the difference between tall fescue and fine fescue?

Our Fescue Rescue Tall Fescue blend is designed for full sun, high traffic, and is extremely drought tolerant. It may struggle in heavy shade or areas that hold too much moisture.

Our Shade Select Fine Fescue blend has thinner blades and loves the shade. It may struggle in areas that get high heat and direct sunlight through most of the summer.

If your yard gets full sun to partial shade, Fescue Rescue Tall Fescue is your best bet.
