Your dog's favorite spot deserves a comeback

Pet Lawn Bare Repair is a 3-in-1 patch repair for dog urine spots, bare spots, and thinning areas. It combines urine-resistant seed, slow-release fertilizer, and recycled paper mulch. The seed was chosen from 160+ varieties tested for urine resistance. Where other products use salt neutralizers, Sunday uses genetics. Pair with Pet Lawn Grass Seed, and Pet Patch Spot Treatment for full-yard pet coverage.

What makes Pet Lawn Bare Repair different

  • Results in as little as 14 days
  • Seed picked from 160+ urine-tested varieties
  • Seed, fertilizer, and mulch in one bag
  • 99.9% weed-free seed guarantee
  • A-LIST approved for quality and sustainability
  • Works in sun to shade on any cool-season lawn

Ingredients

Urine-resistant grass seed blend. Two turf-type tall fescues and one perennial ryegrass, selected from 160+ varieties tested to grow back strong in high-traffic pet areas.

Slow-release nitrogen fertilizer (1-0-0 NPK). Feeds new seedlings gradually so roots establish before the top growth takes off.

Recycled paper mulch. Holds moisture around seeds and keeps them in place while they germinate. Made from recycled materials, so it breaks down naturally.

How to use

Best results come from seeding when temps are between 55 and 75 degrees F, typically spring and fall.

  1. Rake the area. Remove dead grass and debris so seed makes contact with soil.
  2. Apply evenly. Use 1 cup per 1 sq ft for bare spots, or 1 pound per 15 sq ft for thinning areas.
  3. Water lightly. Give the area a gentle soak right after applying.
  4. Keep it moist. Water lightly once or twice daily for the first 2 to 3 weeks.
  5. Hold off on mowing. Wait until new grass reaches about 3 to 4 inches before the first cut.

What makes Pet Lawn Bare Repair different from regular Bare Repair?

Pet Lawn Bare Repair uses urine-resistant grass seed selected from over 160 varieties tested for resilience to dog urine. The blend of tall fescue and perennial ryegrass is built to grow back in spots where dogs go repeatedly.

Can I use Pet Lawn Bare Repair if I don't have pets?

Yes. Pet Lawn Bare Repair works on any bare or thinning area in a cool-season lawn. The seed blend is urine-resistant, but it also delivers deep roots, dark green color, and high traffic tolerance for any yard.

Will my dog's urine damage the new grass again?

Yes. While Pet Lawn Bare Repair uses grass seed varieties specifically tested for urine resistance, no grass is completely immune. This blend holds up longer than standard seed against repeated pet use. For high use areas, use Pet Patch Spot Treatment to prevent severe damage.

How long does Pet Lawn Bare Repair take to grow?

Pet Lawn Bare Repair germinates in 14 days or less when temperatures stay between 55 and 75 degrees F. For best results, seed in spring or fall and keep the area moist with light daily watering.

How much area does one bag of Pet Lawn Bare Repair cover?

One 3.75 lb bag of Pet Lawn Bare Repair covers up to 55 sq ft. For bare areas, use 1 cup per 1 sq ft. For thinning growth, use 1 pound per 15 sq ft. Adjust based on how much of your lawn needs repair.

Should I fertilize before or after using Pet Lawn Bare Repair?

Pet Lawn Bare Repair already includes slow-release nitrogen fertilizer (1-0-0 NPK), so no extra fertilizer is needed at application. You can apply Sunday fertilizer before or after with no risk to the seed.

Good but requires a lot to fill in.

I used some of this product earlier this year to fix pee burn spots from previous homeowners dog to good success. I used some remaining to treat an area of grass I killed with an outdoor trashcan. The photo is from what I had left. I should have used more to make it fuller but ran out. Hopefully you...

So far, so good... be sure to give it a good shake!

Had some pet spots in the yard, so I put down some Pet Lawn Bare Repair about 2-3 weeks ago. Prior to doing so, I cleared out the dead grass and aerated the spot. I'm already starting to see some grass growth, which is great! I used this in a couple of spots in the yard. The only reason for the 4 ...

Works well

I used this spot repair this spring to help fill in spots left over the winter by two large dogs. It worked as well as any other spot reseeding product I’ve used in the past. Price is inline with others. It did its job.

No growth

Spread and the container contained a lot less than I was anticipating. It has been around 3 weeks and I've seen 0 seedling growth, just the blue remnants of mulch. Disappointed it didn't work.

Hello Erik, we apologize for the disappointment you've experienced with the lack of seedling growth. Thanks for sharing this, that’s a tough spot to be in after putting in the effort. Three weeks with no germination is definitely not what we want to see. A couple things could be at play here. Grass seed typically needs consistent moisture to sprout, especially in those first couple weeks. If the soil dried out at all, seeds can stall or fail to germinate. Timing matters too, since most grasses establish best in cooler temps like spring or fall, and can struggle in heat. For a quick reset, try loosening the top layer of soil, reapplying seed, and keeping the area consistently moist with light daily watering until you see sprouts. Once it germinates, you can shift to deeper, less frequent watering to build strong roots. We want this to work for you, not leave you staring at blue mulch. If you’re up for it, share a bit about your temps and watering routine and we can help dial it in so you actually see that growth come through

This Stuff Doesn’t Work At All

I’m a big fan of Sunday products but this stuff is garbage! It’s been a month and I still have neon blue clumps of mulch-seed all over my lawn. No actual grass grew in the bare spots but a million weeds have sprouted! Wish I could get my money back - I bought 3 bottles - complete waste of money....

Do not buy. Waste of money

I’ve bought this twice thinking maybe I did something wrong the first time and got the exact same poor results. Nothing is growing. Only the blue stuff is sticking around and clumping. I watered twice a day for 10 days and nothing.

We're sorry to hear that this was your experience with Sunday! There are a few factors that may have affected your seed germination. 1. Applying the correct rate (or amount of seed). By over-application, we're referring to applying outside of our labeled and recommended seed rates. Over-application of seed can result in too much seed in a single area and cause it to not germinate successfully. 2. Watering correctly is critical. The soil needs to be moist, but not saturated, until grass has germinated. If it gets dried out even for a few days, it may not grow from the soil. 3. Germination rates should be about 7-21 days, but can be more if conditions are not quite right.

Useless

This did absolutely nothing for my lawn. In fact, I think it looked worse after I removed the mostly dead urine spots and seeded with this, as the seeds never took.
