A better lawn in six steps
Whether you just bought a new home or simply haven’t had the time to deal with grass, we‘re here for you. Best part—you don’t need to carve out a ton of time. These six simple steps will get you growing in just a weekend or two!
- Water first Your lawn will take up fertilizer better if it’s not stressed by drought. Plus, weeds are easier to pull in a hydrated lawn!
- Feed the grass Fertilizing is important because even the richest soil may not supply all the nutrients your lawn needs. But we know it can be overwhelming to figure out the right products! When you take our lawn quiz, we’ll create a custom fertilizer plan that’s based on your soil and climate. Each shipment will arrive when it’s time to apply—just attach your Sunday nutrient pouch to a hose and spray it on your lawn!
- Remove weeds Pull larger weeds by hand, then spot treat the rest with Sunday weed control—this approach will be more effective and is better for the environment. Reward yourself with a break for 24 hours while herbicides dry.
- Mow the lawn Mow on the highest setting, never cutting more than ⅓ of the grass height at a time. This prevents grass from getting too stressed, and also helps grow thicker turf that’s more resilient to weeds.
- Seed or plant Annual overseeding (or planting sprigs, plugs, or sod) is an underrated trick of the trade. It helps crowd out weeds and fills in thinning areas. Not sure what grass to grow? Check out our How-to Guide!
- Take a break Give yourself a pat on the back! You’re well on your way to getting a traffic-stopping, head-turning lawn.
