Did you know traditional winter salts are harmful to soil, waterways, and pet paws? That's why Sunday's eco-friendly, easy-pour ice melt uses pure magnesium chloride from the Dead Sea. It’s less corrosive to driveways and more gentle for fur friends' paws—plus, it’s more effective than rock salt at colder temps (down to -13º F versus only 5º F!).

When to use Ice Melt product

Any time there is actively falling snow or after there has been precipitation that's frozen onto pathways! Use at your discretion, but make sure you're only applying as needed.

How to apply Pet Safe Ice Melt

1

Prep the paths

Shovel or snow blow any snow from the walkway and driveway areas. This will help you use less salt and make sure you don't have ice buildup over time.

You can also pre-apply before winter storms to prevent icy walkways.

2

Spread ice melt

After shoveling, apply a uniform layer across the pathway. The recommended rate is ½ cup per square yard, but a thin, spread-out layer will do.

Use a handheld spreader to help apply a consistent, appropriate amount. For larger patches, thicker ice, and packed snow, apply on the spot as needed.

Watch it melt!

Let your ice melt do its magic and melt away any ice from slippery paths.

If necessary, sweep up spilled ice melt—dry salt can be reused!

Application rate

One bag is enough to cover about 500 sq. ft. or about 4–5 heavier snow events. Apply ½ cup per 1 sq. yard.

Pet Safe Ice Melt application tips

  • Use a handheld spreader to help apply a uniform amount.
  • Avoid applying on grass, shrubs, or vegetation alongside pathways to reduce any salt damage to your plants.

Pet Safe Ice Melt FAQs

Should I still check my pet's paws?

Yes, we still recommend wiping paws after walking through ice melt. Dog breeds can still have paw sensitivity to any type of salt and its good practice to wipe paws when entering homes anyway!

Why should I remove snow first?

This method of application helps to avoid wasting the product, limits runoff into waterways, and limits salt absorption in lawns.

If it's colder, should I use more?

Don’t overapply! Using the recommended ½ cup per square yard will help you save money and prevent excess waste and environmental strain. Remember: temperatures lower than -13°F are too cold for our ice to melt and more salt doesn’t equal more melting power.

How and where do I store products?

Store this product sitting upright with the resealable package closed tightly. Do not store in excessive heat or moisture.
