How to apply Sunday in one weekend

Day 1

As the first rays of morning sunshine break through, get your hose or sprinkler system ready to hydrate your lawn and prepare to remove weeds.

Morning

  1. Water the lawn. This pre-fertilizer watering sets the stage for optimal nutrient absorption. Plus, it helps in releasing the deep-rooted weeds, prepping them for an easier hand-pulling session.
  2. Remove weeds. Moist soil will help you uproot your weeds more easily. You can also use Sunday weed control spot treatment especially to help you tackle less mature weeds and weedy patches. Use Dandelion Doom for weeds in the lawn and Weed Warrior for weeds outside of the lawn. Allow 24 hours for the product to fully dry for optimal results.

Evening

  1. Apply Lawn Treatments.
    1. For repairing damaged spots, spray Pet Patch or Lawn Aid on affected areas for 15 seconds from a foot away, thoroughly soaking damaged areas.
    2. For preventive use, spray lawn treatments (like Drought Defense) across your lawn according to the label. For best results, water your lawn thoroughly after application.

Day 2

Welcome to your lawn-focused Saturday! Today you’ll mow properly, seed or patch bare or thinning areas, apply nutrients, and if need be, apply liquid pest control.

Morning

  1. Mow your lawn. Keep the ⅓ rule in mind, and make sure to either grasscycle or bag your clippings (if you plan to seed).
  2. Sow seeds or repair bare areas. After recent weed removal, your lawn is ready for some seeding love. Apply Sunday grass seed or bare repair according to recommended seed rates. Water in seed, or if applying fertilizer, the nutrient application that follows will take care of the first day's watering needs.
  3. Fertilize your lawn. You can apply Sunday liquid fertilizer or granular fertilizer immediately after seeding. Make sure to apply evenly across your lawn, clean up any spillages after application and wait until the lawn dries before reentering the area.

Evening

  1. Spray liquid pest control. Before you call it a day, apply Nix Ticks or Mosquito Deleto to fend off biting pests. Focus on “protected areas”, or areas of your yard you and your family frequent. As long as products don’t interfere, apply Bug Doom Home Barrier Treatments during this time too!

Sunday Tip:

Avoid spraying newly seeded areas with pest products, and incorporate integrated pest management alongside pest control.

Day 3

The perfect day to wrap up your Sunday lawn care tasks. ‘Nough said.

Morning

  1. Apply bait pest products, if needed. Once your lawn is dry, apply Ant Adios (or Fire Ant Fighter) bait granules around the home, or directly to mounds. Applying these after liquid applications ensures effectiveness.
  2. Finally, do a once-over check across your lawn and yard for any missed applications or additional needs. Make sure products are stored properly for your next applications and are ready for reapplications as needed.

After completing your Sunday regimen, it's time for the most crucial task - taking a well-deserved break. Remember, even the greenest thumbs need some downtime!
