    Melissa lawns average 2475 sq ft and feature warm-season grasses like bermudagrass, zoysiagrass, and St. Augustinegrass. Lawn care in Melissa requires understanding the local soil conditions, which has some unique characteristics.

    The soil in Melissa, Texas has a basic pH of 8.0 with moderate organic matter (2.2%). It contains a mix of 15% sand, 50% silt, and 35% clay, creating a silty clay loam texture. This soil composition affects how you should approach:

    • Watering: Clay-heavy soil retains moisture longer but absorbs it slowly
    • Fertilizing: High calcium levels (6705 ppm) but lower phosphorus (24 ppm)
    • Weed control: Alkaline soil may favor certain weeds

    For effective Melissa lawn care, consider a soil test to track nutrient levels. The warm Texas climate means proper timing for fertilization and regular mowing at appropriate heights for your specific grass type.

    Texas Lawn

    It is super convenient to have your lawn treatment mailed to your door and ready for application. I find the hints for when and how to apply very helpful as well as the hints for lawn care. With all the news about rising prices of fertilizer I was worried my rates would change just prior to the spring season, but Sunday held the prices for the membership steady. I would love to tell you how great my lawn looks today, but here in central Texas I am just happy my lawn is still alive with the water restrictions in place.

    Texas = Hot

    Easy application and real time support, couldn’t be happier with the system. Had issues this past year with fungus growing, fixed with a better watering plan. Now my issue is the brutal Texas heat.

      Melissa, Texas FAQs

      Sunday's custom lawn care plan can help improve your lawn in Melissa by addressing specific soil needs. Start with a soil test to understand nutrient deficiencies. Apply fertilizer based on your custom schedule, mow at 3-4 inches during summer, water deeply but less frequently, and spot treat weeds as needed. Sunday's nutrients feed your lawn while promoting healthier soil over time.

      Texas lawns often face heat stress during hot summers, making proper watering crucial. High temperatures can lead to dormancy if not managed correctly. Common challenges include controlling weeds that thrive in warm weather, managing water restrictions during dry periods, and maintaining grass through seasonal transitions. Sunday's custom plans account for your local climate conditions to help your lawn withstand these challenges.

      With Sunday's Custom Lawn Plan, you'll receive fertilizer with specific application dates tailored to your location. Generally, Texas lawns benefit from fertilizing when grass is actively growing, typically early spring through fall. Sunday designs your plan around optimal application timing based on your regional growing season, soil needs, and grass type, so you don't have to guess when to fertilize.

      Sunday creates your lawn care plan using your location data, lawn size, and soil test results. Choose from options like the Basic Plan with nutrients and soil testing, Keep & Protect which adds weed control, Grow & Renew with seed options, or Lawn & Paws with pet-centered products. Each plan includes nutrients customized for your lawn's specific needs and expert support from Yard Advisors.

      Year-round lawn care in Texas includes spring preparation with proper fertilization, summer maintenance with appropriate watering and mowing high (3-4 inches), fall recovery with nutrients and possible overseeding, and winter monitoring. Sunday's custom plan provides the right nutrients at the right times throughout your growing season, plus guidance for seasonal lawn practices that work with your local climate.
